Happy book birthday to The Ogress and the Orphans by…
I really enjoy reading this series. Lemony Snicket is so funny, yet writes in a way that am truly vested in the characters and cannot put the books down. In this story, the Baudelaire orphans finally find someone they could see themselves being happy with, Uncle Monty. He’s odd with his fascination with snakes and other reptiles, but he is kind, loving, and adventurous. I gave this book FIVE STARS because of the great writing, great character development, and great plot twists. I will say, one character that I just want to shake sometimes is Mr. Poe. He is so gullible. He is the reason for some of these unfortunate events.
- “There are two types of panicking: standing still and not saying a word, and leaping all over the place babbling anything that comes into your head.”
- “I think we’ll always miss our parents. But I think we can miss them without being miserable all the time. After all, they wouldn’t want us to be miserable.”
