First Line Friday #7

Weekly Blog Post: First Line Friday

Let’s share the books we are currently reading and get each other hooked onto a new book!

Grab your current read, share the title and author and the first few sentences.

Here is mine from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis. This is book one or book two (google it, I didn’t realize the controversy) in The Chronicles of Narnia series.

Once there were four chilren whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. This story is about something that happened to them when they were sent away from London during the war because of the air-raids. They were sent to the house of an old professor who lived in the heart of the country, ten miles from the nearest railway station and two miles from the nearest post office.

Immediately I am hooked because of the historical fiction feel. If I didn’t already know this story by heart, I would have read it to satisfy my love of all things history and London and war. However, as most of you know, this is not a historical fiction piece, but instead is a beautiful and fantastic adventure.
