My Thoughts

I began reading books by Raina Telgemeier last year at about this time. The first one I read was Sisters. This was my first graphic novel and it hooked me. It really made me love graphic novels and now I look for them everywhere. Ghosts ranks at the top of the books I have read by Raina. I loved the diversity, the focus on Dia De Los Muertos, family, and Cystic Fibrosis. I think this book is a great read for those that want to learn more about other cultures and the strength of family and friends.

I knew a boy with Cystic Fibrosis and although his case was much more severe, I recognized several connections between him and Maya. It broke my heart and made me want to root for her to get to live her life.
