National Poetry Month Day 3: Mask (Persona) Poem Inspired by…

Day 18: #100DOSW18
Day 18: June 19
My prompt from the Story of My Life journal was about a keepsake from my childhood.
Here are my keepsakes I still have (and can find easily!):
- Butterfly bookmark
- Bible (Precious Moments)
- American Girl books
- Other books
- Volleyball t-shirt
- Student Council t-shirt
The one I chose to write about was my butterfly bookmark. I chose to write about this one because it is really remarkable that I still have it. I mean, who doesn’t lose bookmarks? It was also not something I intentionally kept. I happened to come across it (in a book) a couple of years ago. I didn’t even remember it, until I saw it.
Here is my writing, enjoy!
Happy reading and writing!
Like you, I have some cherished books from my childhood. When I reread Anne of Green Gables, there’s something comforting in knowing that the book in my hands is the exact same volume I read and reread when I was a middle schooler.
I also have some “Teen” magazines with feature articles on the Osmonds and David Cassidy. That tells you how much older I am than you 😉 I even have a few Osmonds bubble gum cards. Does anyone even sell bubble gum cards anymore?
Thank you for sharing. I love this prompt!
That is how I am with my Harry Potter books! I read the first when I was in 6th grade, I still have that copy and I am proud of how well I took care of it!
