Day 21: #100DOSW18

Day 21: July 4th

I am just going to come out and say it….I am not going to make 100 days of writing this summer. I keep getting further and further behind! I am honestly on a reading kick and not really motivated to write.

I will say, I do write a lot more in my journal, so maybe I will just post a picture of that. Thoughts?

Anyway, I will not give up, but I am not going to stress. So, here I am ready for day 21!

My Prompt

The soft squeak of the coffee cart wakes me from my slumber. I slowly open my eyes and realize that I cannot see anything. The windows are dark, as is the car I am riding in. I quietly whisper, “I’ll take a black coffee, sir.” The cart stops gently beside me. I cannot even see who is serving me the coffee, if it is even a man, or perhaps a woman.

“Here you are, sir. Is there anything else I can get for you?” A calm male voice responds while handing me my steaming cup.

“Can you tell me where we are?” I cannot see out the windows at all and I do not know how long I have been sleeping. I feel lost and out of sorts.

”We just passed Accrington, sir.”

“Thank you, sir. Good night.”

The squeak of the coffee cart moves softly away and I am alone. I am alone for the first time in 20 years. I have left my life behind in London, on to something new. I should feel excited, yet inside, my heart is racing. Did I make the right choice? Am I running, or am I moving forward?

My reflection

I feel like this could be the start of another short story…maybe. I am enjoying these prompts and trying to write a story out of them instead of analyzing them.

Thanks for reading!
