Day 1: A Book That Features Travel or a Journey

Into the Tall, Tall Grass by Loriel Ryon is the first book that came to mind. This book, which will be released April 7, is a beautiful magic realism story centering on family and self-discovery. I loved the magic, Wela’s stories, and the powerful descriptions.

The journey: Yolanda’s Wela (grandmother) is sick and she tells her that she must get the pecan tree to make everything right. Yolanda, with her sister and two friends, sets off through the tall grass towards the pecan tree to save her grandmother. Along the way, Yo learns more about her Wela’s past and begins to find her place.
