It was a really great reading week for me! I listened to a lot while packing up my classroom. We also finished our class read aloud, The War That Saved My Life, and I finished the book my daughter and I were reading, A Boy Called Bat. I am hoping this week is also a great reading one.

Books I Finished

The books I finished are all great reads for middle grade readers. They are perfect for the wide range of ages that makes up middle grade. Scritch Scratch comes out in September, so preorder now!

Option Pile

I am listening to 28 Days courtesy of Libro.fm and NetGalley provided me Superman Smashes the Klan. 28 Days is more mature and I woud not recommend it to my sixth graders. It is very dark and depressing. But, so far, Gene Luen Yang’s newest graphic novel is appropriate and I know it will be a hit in my classroom.

Oh my goodness! So many great books you’ve read this week. The War That Saved My Life is my top favorite book of all time. It actually made me fall in love with historical fiction. We were reading The Boy Called Bat in my small reading group before this pandemic happened. I am so sad we won’t be able to pick it back up together. I am currently listening to Tornado Brain on Libro.fm and have 28 Days on deck. A wonderful week of reading indeed.

If you are up for it, I participate in a wonderful community called “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?” #imwayr . You can check out my posts to see what I do, then go to unleashingreaders.com and see their Monday post. You can “link-up” in her post and about 15+ bloggers do so each week and you hop into their blogs to see what they are reading and leave comments!
