Recent Reads: July 6-12

Hello readers and friends! I hope you all are taking care of yourself and reading a lot of great books. If you aren’t able to read, know that you are not alone. In this time of uncertainty, it is hard to find focus to read. Just, take care of yourself. Be kind to yourself.

I have not posted an update recently, so I will start with sharing my July Reads BINGO card and then my Summer Bookaday stats. Then, I will share my most recent reads AND the books in my option pile! I am also notebooking and will share that BINGO card as well. (Can you tell I like BINGO cards?)

July Reads BINGO Card

I have finished 5 books and of those 5, my favorite is Any Day With You. It was a beautiful story of family and growing up and I am so thankful I could read it.

Burn Our Bodies Down is a fantastic Young Adult read that I would also recommend.

The Disney Chills book, Part of Your Nightmare started off strong, then kind of waned, but THE ENDING took me completely by surprise. This will be a good book to recommend to my students who love a good scary book! I look forward to reading more from this series.

Ever After was a very mature graphic novel that I felt could have had stronger characters and a more developed story line. I could see potential!

Stella Endicott and the Anything-Is-Possible Poem was an adorable and spunky book that is perfect for developing readers.

I ended up exchanging The Lucky Ones for Closer to Nowhere. The Lucky Ones was centered around a school shooting and my anxiety couldn’t handle it at the time. So, I will not say I will never finish it, but I will try again when I am in a healthier mind space.

Summer Bookaday

I am currently at 39 books and 9,099 pages for the summer. I have challenged myself to reading 70 books or 7,000 pages between May 25 and August 3. I have met my page number goal and am moving forward to my book goal!

Notebooking

And finally, my notebooking. I have been following @mhaselt for quite some time because of her daily messages to her students and for her notebooks. Her 100 Days of Notebooking challenge really helped me make notebooking a daily routine and now she has a July notebooking BINGO card! Here it is:
