Hello reading friends! It’s a new week, which means it’s time to review last week and set my goals for this week. I always love reflecting, even if most of the time I look back on the week and ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING I set out to…but I also have to focus on what I DID ACCOMPLISH and usually end up being proud anyway.

Books I Finished

I finished 1 MG, 1 YA and 1 Adult book-a very well-balanced reading meal I suppose!

Here are my thoughts on each:

Middle Grade

Miles Morales Suspended by Jason Reynolds
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved being in this world with Miles Morales at school. It was a lot of fun learning more about him as a student, as a human, and also having other characters come into play. I really loved the poetry mixed with prose-it kept the pacing moving really nicely.

Spy x Family, Vol. 2 by Tatsuya Endo

This spy story is pretty funny and I look forward to seeing what happens next!

My Heart Is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones

What. A. Horror. Book! Oh my goodness. I loved Jade, the protagonist and how you just weren’t sure about her the entire book. The ending…be ready. Let me tell you. Just be ready.

My favorite read of these 3? Definitely MY HEART IS A CHAINSAW. I have been on a horror kick and this book had everything I’ve been wanting! Perfect slasher book.

Option Pile

Here are the books I hope to pick up this week (and maybe even finish)!

I just got YELLOWFACE from the library and am so excited for this book, so it is a priority.

I am reading BATTLE DRAGONS with my daughter and it is pretty amazing.

A LITTLE LIFE-I have been reading this one for several weeks and it is definitely one I am going to just read slowly and enjoy. It’s a lot…and I like it, but I am not turning pages quickly. Plus, it’s a lot of pages!

PRETTY GIRLS and IF HE HAD BEEN WITH ME I foresee finishing this week. Both are moving quickly.

STORY GENIUS I hope to read 2 chapters this week!

DRAGON REPUBLIC I am listening on audio and enjoying, but it’s a long one!

THE TAKEOUT I also see myself finishing, I think my kindle said I have 30 minutes left! It’s a really great read so far too.

Writing Life

In my writing life…I am making some progress! My current goal is to write for 12 minutes. Every day I write at least 12 minutes I earn a sticker (lol) and for each 120 minutes I earn a fancy pen! My stickers are a lot of fun I think too. Here is the one I earned for yesterday. I completed my origin story for my MC (from Story Genius)

Last week I attended a WRITING BRAVE SUMMIT and it was so motivating, so I am ready to get back into it. I hope to write a few poems and rearrange a few in my draft (I am writing a novel in verse).

YouTube Life

I recently interviewed Maura Jortner, author of a middle grade coming out TOMORROW called 102 DAYS OF LYING ABOUT LAUREN and I had a blast. I also have a LIVE DRAW OFF this Saturday with MG fantasy authors which I know will be a blast! I hope to see you there.
