Ninth Night of Hanukkah by Erica S Perl and Illustrated by Shahar Kober

Thank you Media Masters Publicity for sharing an eARC of this picture book with me.

What I Loved

  • The illustrations were so eye-catching. I loved the color schemes! It was very warm and inviting.
  • The repetition: “it was nice…but it didn’t feel quite like Hanaukka.”
  • The lesson of the holidays explained in a funny, loving way. I really enjoyed how real it felt and how connected most readers could be to possibly moving or something else happening that throws off tradition. Sometimes you can do something a little different and it be memorable and special! I also think the gathering of neighbors was a great way to show community and coming together.

This book is a fun way to read about life and that sometimes our traditions get interrupted or have to change. It also tells the tradition of Hanukkah in an understandable way, so is accessible to most readers. Highly recommend this picture book and you can purchase here.
