Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John MandelMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I gave this book 5 stars because of how unique it is from the books I typically read. It was science fiction, with time travel and all, but it was more of a story of life and the connectedness we all share. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters, following them through time, and finding their connections. It was a little confusing at timees-there are so many characters to keep straight- but Mandel writes in a way that draws you in and keeps you reading, even through confusion.

The 1619 Project: Born on the Water by Nikole Hannah-JonesMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
What an enlightening and powerful picture book. The history and stories told through this book are important and accessible to many readers. The illustrations were absolutely powerful-the light and dark elements, the detail, brought this story to life. It’s a must read.
