Bookdragon Diary- September 10

Bookdragon Diary- September 10

Hello book nerds!

I am struggling with posting and all that…so if I am hit or miss, I am so sorry! Back to school. New routines. Exhaustion. A bit of depression. Overwhelmed. Yeah. It’s all happening which makes none of it happen.

Anyway, here’s my review of books I read the past week and goals for this week! Here’s to a great week of reading and good moods.

This post goes along with the It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? That I love to be part of. Make sure to visit the IMWAYR hosts Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts to find other blogs to follow that use this weekly wrap up.

Before getting into my books, here’s a reminder that I have many other ways to access my content: (although I’ve been slacking!)

Books I Read

Note about my ratings…I decided to try to be more mindful of my ratings and be “pickier” so…you’ll see that not everything is 5 stars lol. We shall see. I struggle with ratings so badly!!!

Middle Grade

The Probability of EverythingThe Probability of Everything by Sarah Everett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Finished in pretty much one sitting-couldn’t put it down. My heart has to know how it would end. I can’t tell you anymore. Just don’t even read the synopsis. Just read it! It’s that kind of book-go in blind.

I just have to let you know…I read THE PROBABILITY OF EVERYTHING in one day-which hasn’t happened in a long time. Granted, I was meeting two friends to talk about the book and I really wanted to have it finished, but it was not hard to immerse myself into this book. I even went for a walk and SOBBED THE ENTIRE LAST PART OF MY WALK. I cannot tell you why of course…but I loved this book. It was wonderful and had me so hooked. I love books that are just different and unexpected and this was it.

Young Adult

Ace of SpadesAce of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Loved the multiple pov and gossip girl vibes. Also, the way it all tied up in the end (and the epilogue) were *chefs kiss*.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a ride from start to finish! I loved how it all played out. A really interesting perspective on abortion and teens.

I read Unpregnant with my Banned Book club on Fable and it was soooo good. I can see why it is controversial, but man-it is great to read for a new perspective and to make you think about abortion. Which is the beauty of books right? To explore someone else’s life in a safe space and in a way to help you understand others.

Adult Reads

The Ocean at the End of the LaneThe Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Gaiman’s books are so hard to rate and to explain. I loved listening to him reading this one. Maybe it’s the vibes I like? The darkness, mystery, fantasy, horror?

Option Pile

I am in the middle of some really great books! I bought the first 3 books in INHERITANCE GAMES and I see myself knocking those out soon. I am loving HAPPY EVER AFTER PLAYLIST and I know it’s going to break my heart…but also I know there will be a happy ending. (right?) I am reading IN THE KEY OF US with my Read to Write KidLit book club which just kicked off and I am so excited for. We even get to talk with Mariama J Lockington about her writing and her craft at the end of the month for my new podcast! RENEGADES is my audiobook and I am loving it!!! Superhero books for the win. Also, the narrator is the same narrator as LUNAR CHRONICLES also by Marissa Meyer and I love her! She’s great.
