IMWAYR July 17-26

Time to reflect and share the books I read last week and what I hope to read this week. Make sure to visit the IMWAYR hosts Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts to find other blogs to follow that use this weekly wrap up.

This week was a lot of fun. I decided to keep track of the pages I read and I also did a readathon on Friday!

Watch my week of reading on my Bookdragon Diary and then read my official reviews below! Thanks for stopping by-I would love to hear what you read. I also have a podcast!

Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind (Momo Arashima, #1)Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind by Misa Sugiura
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A perfect mythological fantasy for fans of Rick Riordan! Loved the twists and the characters. The settings were also a lot of fun too. Can’t wait for the next one!

Young Adult

My Dear Henry: A Jekyll & Hyde Remix (Remixed Classics)My Dear Henry: A Jekyll & Hyde Remix by Kalynn Bayron
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

DEVOURED THIS BOOK and cemented Kalynn Bayron as one of my favorite kids/ya authors. Seriously-it was wonderfully mysterious, romantic, and dark. I liked the take on Jekyll and Hyde and look forward to other remixed classics (even though they are not written by Kalynn).

We Don't Swim HereWe Don’t Swim Here by Vincent Tirado
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fantastic horror! I loved the dual POV, the creepy town with “rules” and just the oddness that is all over this book. You are constantly trying to figure it all out…and the stakes go WAY high at the end. I listened to the audio and thought it was fantastic.

Adult

Daisy DarkerDaisy Darker by Alice Feeney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Audiobook was fantastic-I love hearing the accent. Alice Feeney writes great twisty mysteries with wonderful settings. I want to go to Sea Glass!

This book gutted me! It definitely is one that makes you think about your past, your choices, your family, and what you actually want in life.

Option Pile

I really hope to keep my reading going this week. I am starting back to work on August 14 and am starting to stress about all the things I haven’t done (including read)! I am really loving my option pile and want to read all of them-so I think I’ll do good this week.

Writing Life

In terms of writing, I have been brainstorming and making an outline of my manuscript. I am kind of working backwards because I have already finished the draft, but now need to make things a little more cohesive. I have been reading Magic Words by Cheryl B Klein though and I think it’s inspiring me. Hopefully I don’t get too stressed with reading it. I struggle with craft books because I never know if I should read and then immediately do the prompts or if I should just read…and then I just stop reading. What am I like this?
