IMWAYR and Reviews

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #IMWAYR is a weekly blog hop co-hosted by Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts which focuses on sharing books marketed for children and young adults. It offers opportunities to share and recommend books with each other. Make sure to visit these blogs (and those linked in their posts) to find new books and new friends.

(The original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.)

Below is a list of the books I read this past week and my thoughts as well as my YouTube Vlog video. Comment below if you’ve read some of these or want to know more. Thanks for stopping by!

Vlog

Books I Finished

I finished 2 books…I really felt like I read a lot too, but I realized I was reading two pretty lengthy books and it was a very exhausting week. So, here are the 2 books I read and my reviews of them.

Middle Grade

Keeper of the Lost Cities (Keeper of the Lost Cities, #1)Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every year a student of mine tells me to read this series and finally, I listened. This has all the Harry Potter vibes! It is a long book, but each chapter leaves you hanging and the pages just keep turning, so it doesn’t feel that long. I can’t wait for the next book.

Adult

The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying VampiresThe Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my 3rd book by Grady Hendrix and you would think nothing would shock me…but you are wrong. This book had all the gore, horror, and humor that I fully expect from him. Hendrix has such talent when telling a horror story and I love them! If you love horror, read this book!

Option Pile

I am still going for horror and spooky this week because I am pretty obsessed!

Legit KidLit

Stay up with our episodes on Legit KidLit! We’ve had some pretty awesome interviews. Veera Hiranandani was our guest this weekend and two of her books are some of my all time favorites: The Night Diary and How To Find What You’re Not Looking For. These are two very unique historical fiction stories and I hope you read them! Also, ignore my rocky start-Tiffany was having internet trouble and missed her introduction which totally threw me off and then I stumbled on Veera’s last name and was so embarrassed.

Thanks for stopping by the blog! Please share your reading below and have a great day!
